James Douglas Ltd goes ‘greener’

In response to customer demand for a choice of biodegradable and compostadble products, JDL is very pleased to announce that a new 100% pure Bamboo Cleansing Pad has been added to their range.

Sourcing top quality products that are biodegradable and compostable has been a key initiative for James Douglas. Having already introduced a biodegradable, non-allergenic, non-woven 100% cotton pad; the new bamboo non-woven fabric is generating a lot of interest amongst our customers.
Bamboo is not only sustainable and kind to the planet, but fibres made from this grass are kind to the skin too. This is due to the unique anti-bacterial bio-agent named “bamboo kun” which is found naturally in the fibres. The silky fibres are luxuriously soft, often described as feeling like cashmere. Bamboo is incredibly absorbent and is suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive skin.

The qualities of our new non-woven bamboo pad are:
• 100% biodegradable, 4-6 months on average causing no pollution to the environment
• Suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive skin
• Beautifully soft, luxuriously silky fibre
• Incredibly absorbent
• Naturally antibacterial
• Durable and hard-wearing

So how is Bamboo kind to the planet?
Bamboo is a fast-growing grass that produces more oxygen and absorbs more carbon dioxide than the equivalent number of trees, making it a wonderfully sustainable and eco-friendly resource. It grows particularly quickly and, after harvesting, it grows back just as fast – no replanting is necessary. Unlike trees, which can take up to 30 years to grow and mature, bamboo grows back in three to four months. When bamboo is harvested, the extensive root system is left intact, allowing for rapid regeneration and helping to prevent soil erosion. In fact, nutrients are returned to the soil; improving degraded areas and avoiding the need for fertilizers, insecticides or pesticides.

Bamboo fibre has been praised as a new natural, green and eco -friendly textile material for the 21st century. So, if your company values these natural and ethical credentials and you want to know more about this increasingly popular material, please contact us and ask for a sample.
